Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing first recorded in China,
Japan and other Eastern countries, dating from 4,500 years ago.
Treatment involves the use of very fine needles on acupuncture
points along the meridians. It is based on the theory that
stimulating specific acupuncture points affects the functions of
various organs and systems of the body.
The needles affect the flow of vital energy (called “chi” or “qi”)
through the meridians and thereby stimulate the mental and
physical healing energies.
The WHO, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative
Medicine (NCCAM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the
American Medical Association (AMA) and various government
reports have also studied and commented on the efficacy of
Acupuncture. There is general agreement that Acupuncture is safe
when administered by well-trained practitioners.
